A Very Strange Island

From where we stayed you could see this island that really was weird. It is a small deserted island not far off-shore from the mainland that when you look at it in the morning, you would swear that it looked like it had been in a snow and ice storm.

Well, I have to tell you - I wondered and wondered about why this island looked like this every day we were there. On the boat cruise - I found out, and you may have a very difficult time accepting this, but here goes. Also, if you have a weak stomach, you may not want to read any further... Anyway

I was told by the captain of our boat that many birds live there and that the entire island is covered by "bird do-do." In fact, he also stated that the birds will eat the fish whole and when they do their thing - the entire skeleton of the fish may also be discharged. YUCK!!!

Now, that is what I was told, and you may not believe it - but, it did make sense when it is obvious that Costa Rica doesn't have snow or ice storms. - Your guess is as good as mine.
